The State College Affordable Housing Coalition is the result of like-minded individuals and organizations who found that they had a common purpose. We came together because we each, on our own paths, realized that we were living in a housing market where zoning laws had created an artificial cost of living that was deeply harmful to our communities. Through our political advocacy journeys, personal struggles, research and open discussion about housing equity, came to realize that the common root of the housing issues we were seeing is in laws that were created decades ago in a time where market conditions were quite different and certain social values were accepted which are now more widely seen as unjust.
